So, how do we estimate our equity? There are a number of ways available to us. This means we need 35% or more equity to make calling a profitable, +EV play. The pot odds we are being offered are calculated by dividing the amount we would have to call by the final total pot size (including our call that will get added to the pot): Pot Odds = $35 / ($65.75+$35) = 34.7%. If the pot odds are greater than our equity, folding is correct. If our equity is greater than the pot odds (with both expressed in percentage format), calling is warranted.
